BCCI Mission
The mission of Yonsei University BCCI is to drive a paradigm shift in the understanding of aging and multimorbidity in order to extend healthy human life span.

To achieve this mission, BCCI has established a Yonsei Research Complex that brings together researchers from ten colleges—including Medicine, Dentistry, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Quantum Information Science, and Artificial Intelligence—into a one-roof convergence research ecosystem.
Leveraging Yonsei–IBM Quantum Computing, state-of-the-art research infrastructure, Yonsei Digital Healthcare clinical data, biomedical research institutes, university hospitals, and an integrated bio-cluster connecting academia, hospitals, and industry, BCCI conducts deeply integrated research on aging and age-associated multimorbidity.
Through this convergence approach, BCCI aims to:
- Elucidate the biological mechanisms linking aging and multiple chronic diseases
- Redefine aging not as isolated diseases but as a systemic, interconnected process
- Develop innovative diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic strategies
- Establish a new scientific framework that transforms the aging–multimorbidity paradigm
Ultimately, BCCI seeks to become a global hub for convergence research that reshapes how aging and complex diseases are understood, prevented, and treated, contributing to longer, healthier lives for humanity.
BCCI Value
Advancing Healthy Life Span for Humanity
BCCI is committed to addressing one of the most critical challenges of humankind in the 21st century: extending healthy life span alongside increasing life expectancy. We believe that improving health, not merely prolonging life, is fundamental to human dignity and societal sustainability.
Convergence Science Beyond Disciplinary Boundaries
BCCI values deep interdisciplinary collaboration as the key to understanding aging and age-related multimorbidity. By integrating medicine, dentistry, life sciences, pharmacy, engineering, natural sciences, quantum information science, and artificial intelligence, we pursue solutions that no single discipline can achieve alone.
Data-Driven and Technology-Enabled Innovation
We embrace cutting-edge technologies—including quantum computing, artificial intelligence, digital healthcare platforms, and large-scale clinical data—to uncover complex biological mechanisms underlying aging and multiple chronic diseases.
Translational Impact from Discovery to Society
BCCI values research that bridges fundamental science and real-world impact, transforming scientific discoveries into clinical, industrial, and societal solutions through strong hospital–industry–research integration.
